1.     This question is taken from the section empathy skills. The story connecting empathy skills is ‘Action Will be Taken’ by Heinrich Ball. The story reveals that empathy, though directed at another person, can, in fact, reward our own lives in a meaningful manner.

2.     This question is taken from the section positivity skills. The story connecting positivity skills is ‘The Dispenser of Holy Water’ by Guy de Maupassant. The story is about a Wheelwright, who leaves everything for the sake of discovering his son. His faith in his mission and his willingness to adapt with all kinds of adverse situations, helps him to achieve his goal of finding his lost son. In such times, an open and positive attitude to life helps to sustain.

3.     This question is taken from the section professional skills. The story connecting professional skills is ‘After Twenty Years’ by O. Henry. O. Henry is the pen name of the famous American short story writer William Sidney Porter. The present story is about childhood friends who end up in a diametrically opposing profession. Because of which they are placed in a unique dilemma where their personal history and professional choice puts them in a difficult situation. A good professional is never totally merciless. Similarly a good friend is never completely sympathetic. We must learn to negotiate and bring balance between staying professional while at the same time being true to the sense of ethics to be a good professional.

4.     This question is taken from the section leadership skills. The story connecting leadership skills is ‘The Power of a Plate of Rice’ by Ifeoma Okoye, who is a renowned Nigerian novelist. The situation that the central character, Mrs Cheta Adu (the Nigerian school teacher) has to face makes it evident that educational qualification is not enough to make good leaders. Soft skills like patience and persistence are primary leadership qualities that we should develop in ourselves along with other leadership skills like planning, communication, organising, coordinating, directing and overseeing.
